Factors associated with vaccine default in Southern Ghana based on data from the RTSS malaria vaccine trial in Cape Coast
02 January 2025This study, conducted in the Cape Coast Metropolis in Ghana, examines the factors associated with RTS, S/AS01E malaria vaccine defaulting. Using a cross-sectional research design, the study analyses data from caregivers to identify key socio-demographic, healthcare-related, and vaccine-specific predictors of defaulting. Failure to complete the vaccine schedule can undermine immunity against malaria, reducing vaccine effectiveness and increasing susceptibility to infection. By understanding the determinants of vaccine defaults, this study aims to inform targeted interventions to improve vaccine adherence and strengthen malaria control efforts in Ghana.
