Evaluation of the Med Safety mobile app for reporting adverse events in Burkina Faso

27 July 2024

This study, conducted in Burkina Faso, evaluates the implementation of the Med Safety mobile app for reporting adverse events. Using a cross-sectional online survey and retrospective data analysis, the study assesses the app’s acceptability, usefulness, and feasibility among healthcare professionals and compares the characteristics of reports submitted via the app and traditional paper forms. Findings indicate that while the Med Safety app is perceived as a viable pharmacovigilance tool, usage remains limited, and reporting delays persist. By identifying barriers and advantages of mobile-based adverse event reporting, this study informs strategies to enhance pharmacovigilance and medication safety in low-resource settings.
