Short report on the Workshop on implementation strategies for the introduction of the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine in countries with areas of highly seasonal malaria transmission

This workshop aimed to address questions and challenges related to the introduction of the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine in countries with seasonal malaria transmission and varying levels of Expanded Programme on Immunization coverage. The workshop brought together stakeholders from countries that have introduced the vaccine in routine child vaccination services to share their experiences. Participants discussed implementation strategies, supply management, and research needs to optimize the vaccine's implementation and maximize its impact on reducing child morbidity and mortality. The workshop was convened by the OPT-SMC project in collaboration with partners of the Access and Delivery Partnership partners, the WHO Malaria Vaccine Implementation Programme of the Department of Immunization, and the Vaccines and Biologicals and the WHO regional office for Africa.
